Urban Legends Is Here!!! #newrelease #indieauthor #amwritinghorror

I met my deadline and published my new horror novella, Urban Legends, this week. Yea me!!!

Urban Legends - High Resolution

AMAZON, B&N, KOBO, APPLE, OTHER BOOK SITES

Gruesome murders, resembling urban legends, take place in a small college town. Wilk, Elena, and Wayne grow suspicious of their Urban Legends professor when their best friend, Savannah, is found dead in her dorm room with ‘Aren’t You Glad You Didn’t Turn on the Lights?’ written in blood on the mirror. Is Professor Stevens a deranged serial killer? Or just a creepy dude? They must find out the truth before they become the next victims.

EXCERPT FROM URBAN LEGENDS:

The shady looking desk clerk with shifty eyes handed him back his driver’s license and credit card. “Sweeney Todd, please enjoy your stay here. Starting at six a.m., you can eat our complimentary breakfast in the lobby.”

Sweeney Todd stood at the hotel’s front desk in sunglasses, a navy blazer, and combat boots. He smiled and put his cards into his leather wallet. “Thank you.”

Popluck was a town, located five miles from the annoying college town of Independence. Popluck didn’t suffer from tourists. Less people meant less chances of being spotted.

He stepped into the elevator. Men wearing business suits and a few casual couples already stood inside it. He pretended to text on his iPhone, so as to not bring attention to himself.

With no overnight bag, he strolled down the hallway, as the lights flickered on and off, until he reached Room 24. He didn’t plan on spending the night. Why stay in a roach motel when he had a cozy bed at home he could sleep in?

After letting himself in with the card key, he switched on the lights. His gaze scanned the room–a king-sized bed with cheap linens, a dusty dresser with a busted television, a broken remote, a blinking alarm clock, and a carpet covered with black spots.

He sighed and closed the door. When he plopped down on the bed, he texted: Room 24.

I’ll be there shortly, came her reply.

And the Winners Are…!!!

The International Authors’ Day Blog Hop 2016 just ended. We were asked to do a giveaway to help celebrate books. Mine consisted of asking readers to reveal the craziest thing an ex did to try and convince you not to break up with him or her.

The lucky winners of my suspense ebook, Twisted Obsession, are:

CATHY BROCKMAN and PURBA CHAKRABORTY!!!!!!!

Crazy is an understatement when it comes to Miki. You’ll see when you read the book.

Please email me at author.yawatta.hosby(AT)gmail(DOT)com or leave me a comment on this blog post with the desired format (PDF or kindle gift from Amazon). If you leave a comment on this blog post, please make sure to also leave your email address.

International Authors’ Day Blog Hop 2016

photo (1)

I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined this awesome blog hop that celebrates authors and readers. Debdatta is hosting this International Author’s Day Blog Hop. She’s a blogger, reviewer, publicist, and virtual assistant. Please check out her blog–b00k r3vi3ws.

The goal is to share our favorite books, thanking the authors and/or describing our reading habits. I choose the latter. Ever since I was a little girl, I could be found curled up in a comfy chair reading a book. This was long before elementary school with rewards of free Pizza Hut after so many books listed from your reading list.

Nowadays, I binge read since I have a kindle and can download affordable ebooks. Occasionally, I still buy paperbacks from Books-A-Million. I love scaring myself, so horror is a must. Plus, I love solving puzzles, which is why I love mysteries. I’m not going to lie–if I’m reading a paperback, I’ll read the last pages first to see who the killer is. It makes the book more enjoyable, knowing this spoiler. 🙂

I love fiction novels, but I also dabble in non-fiction, especially about local ghost legends. In fact, I just went on a ghost tour in Sharpsburg (I’ll blog about my frightful experience later…)

Do I look scared hee hee? My favorite type of books are the ones that make me scared to go to sleep at night. The ones that give me chills and stay on my mind long after I read ‘the end.’ The ones that make me think.

I hope you guys like to read, and I hope you like free stuff. With this blog hop, I’m including a giveaway:

3 LUCKY WINNERS WILL WIN AN EBOOK COPY OF TWISTED OBSESSION!!!

28704404

I can give the winners a PDF or a gifted copy from Amazon. The giveaway runs July 14th through July 18th, so please make sure to check back in on my blog to see if you were one of the lucky winners.

Here’s the rules:

In the comment section of this blog post or on my author Facebook page, tell me the craziest thing your ex ever did to try and convince you  not to break up with him or her. The 3 most whackiest, craziest answer (I’ll be the judge. You know how the saying goes “reality is stranger than fiction”) will win Twisted Obsession, my latest suspense novella.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

I’m trying an Amazon Giveaway for the first time…To be honest, I have no idea if Amazon will let readers know they have a chance to win or if I’m supposed to find willing participants by my lonesome…I guess on May 11th I’ll find out 🙂

Opinions On A Cool Gift For Readers, Please?

Thank you for anyone who’s ever helped me make a decision, like my Facebook author pic and the title of my women’s fiction novella. I wanted to get some opinions from readers since they’d be the ones reaping the benefit 🙂

I’ve come up with this cool and fun idea for a contest. What are prizes that readers would want? Should it be one huge prize for one winner? Or three to five affordable prizes with different winners?

Some possibilities I’ve considered:

  • Amazon Gift Card
  • Ebook Reader/Tablet Cover
  • Free books of your choice
  • ? ? ? ? ?

What do readers want? What would motivate you to join a contest for a chance to win the prize?
