The Weekend Writing Warriors is an awesome site that allows writers to share their 8 to 10 sentence excerpts, published or unpublished, to the blogosphere. If you’d like to join or would like to read wonderful talent, please visit the WeWriWa website on Sunday, 5/3 http://wewriwa.blogspot.com.
I’m sharing my work-in-progress of a serial killer torturing a college campus with urban legends.
Here’s my excerpt:
Sweeney Todd heard footsteps in the suite room before he heard a door close. His heart caught in his chest as he stood still. He couldn’t believe this was happening! He never bothered to check if the bathroom door was locked! What if a suitemate entered the room?
He held his breath, afraid of making any noises. He listened to someone peeing. Someone coughed. Someone flushed. Someone pounded on the bathroom door.

I hope whoever is pounding on the door is safe from Sweeney. (Probably not!) Good excerpt, Yawatta!
Thanks, Priscilla. You’ll see this weekend if Elena’s suitemate is safe or not. Spoiler alert—he doesn’t really kill unless it fits his horror urban legends book 🙂

Oh, boy. An unexpected victim? Good snippet.
Thanks, Diane. You’ll see this weekend if the suitemate escapes 🙂

Uh oh! Is this the end for him? Is he going to get caught?
Hi, Jessica. Sweeney Todd wouldn’t go down without a fight. I’d say this is mid-story, so he still has more horrific tricks up his sleeve.

Uh oh, adrenaline time for everyone, including the reader!
Thanks, Veronica. That’s exactly the type of mood I’d like my readers to have lol

Uh oh! Not sure how this will go. If his criminally insane mind works fast–or if he likes to take his time planning out things–this will definitely be a wrench in the works!
Oy! Now what??
Good snippet, Yawatta! 🙂
Thanks, Teresa. He’s definitely a planner but he’s pretty flexible because he thinks of every possible scenario that could happen to prepare himself. The suitemate’s fate will be revealed this weekend. 🙂
