I’m sharing my work-in-progress of a serial killer torturing a college campus with urban legends.
Here’s my excerpt:
…I’m not even a bad guy. I only kill with urban legends for true authentic research. After my future novel becomes a bestseller, I’ll have no reason to ever kill again. I promise. I cared for Savannah, but she had to go. When I stuffed her body in the hotel mattress, I knew there was no going back on the plan. I’m just lucky the smell didn’t disgust the hotel guests or staff. I’ve already cleaned the room and returned my key. No more hiding bodies. I want this town to be scared shitless.
That’s the end of this week’s snippet. If you’d like to read more, I’m ending this chapter and introducing what happens in the morning. Main characters, Wayne and Wilk (roommates) are introduced to you guys.
I need to see true reactions of these crazy crimes, so I can make sure my side characters in my novel act appropriately. I want this situation as realistic as possible for my readers.
——-
Wayne woke to a blood curdling scream. He jolted out of bed; his feet slipped on the carpet, but he caught himself before he could fall. He thought he was having a nightmare. When he saw Wilk rubbing sleep snot from his eyes, looking afraid, Wayne knew he was awake.
He asked, “Is that Elena?”

“Authentic research,” oh I hope the police catch Sweeney!
Maybe they do. Maybe they don’t. 🙂

Great excerpt! Can’t wait to read more.
Thanks, Iseult 🙂

Uh . . . Yawatta, you aren’t doing your own ‘research’ for this book. Are you? 😁
Lol, I wondered when someone would ask me that. No, I’m not doing my own research 🙂

He is so C.R.A.Z.Y. He actually believes it’s okay because he did it for research.
Great job writing an insane character. 🙂 !
Thanks, Teresa. Yeah the killer is definitely cray-cray.

HELP! This is a super interesting snippet. But is he going to kill or what?
The killings aren’t over. He’s only getting started.

Yikes!! That would definitely be frightening to wake up to. And though your killer says this is only for research, I wonder if they will truly be able to stop, or even get away with it all.
Hey Jessica,
I couldn’t even imagine waking up to anything gruesome like that. Those are some great questions you’re wondering. I like how your mind works 🙂

“I’m not a bad guy!” Yeeeah. Just keep telling yourself that! Great scene and intro to Wayne and Wilk. I’m ready for more!
Thanks, Nancy. That means a lot!

Uh, I think he’s a bad guy. Great insight to the killer’s motivation.
Thank you, Elaine. I’m not sure why your comment was stuck in my spam folder. Sorry I didn’t respond sooner.

Wow. So he’s writing a book about murder and doing research for it. Yeah, I think the police are going to accept that as an excuse. Not! You keep drawing us in with each snippet.
Haha, thanks Diane!

The body in the mattress was chilling.
Thank you, Linda.
