Trying Something Different. No Resolutions This Year.

I know I’m late, but I’ll say it anyway: HAPPY 2019!!!

I’m open to changes for the new year. Hence, my haircut. I literally got all my hair chopped off, shorter than my pixie.

Even though I didn’t plan any writing resolutions, I’ve been pretty productive this month. I was asked to do a book signing in March, and I signed up to be part of a horror anthology.

And, the biggie…I took my books out of KDP select (Six Plus One will be finished in February). This means I’m going wide. My books will be available on all book platforms like Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, etc.

Yesterday, I received my sketchbook from the Brooklyn Art Library. I’m participating in the Sketchbook Project, and I’m very excited! If I ever open an Instagram account, it’ll be for my art.

Did you guys make any New Year resolutions? What are they?

Keep smiling,

Yawatta Hosby

  1. I like your hair cut!

I tend to make quarterly resolutions or goals rather than yearly ones. Keeps things within reach.:-) This quarter I’m rewriting a book I wrote last year . . . ghosts, a creepy old mansion, stuff like that.

Best of luck on ALL the book platforms!

    • Thanks, Priscilla! Shorter hair is easier to manage for me.

I like your idea of making quarterly goals instead of yearly ones. I may have to steal your idea 🙂 Your book sounds interesting. I love creepy, dark stuff. Good luck with your rewrite.

      Keep smiling,

    • Thank you, Sharon 🙂 I’ve always loved short hair, especially pixies. I was tired of letting it grow out.

Best of luck to you as well!

      Keep smiling,

  2. Happy New Year to you too, and I love your new look!

I have a WIP, but I can’t seem to find time to settle down and finish it. I keep being seduced into blog tours, and although I have set myself a limit of 12 blog tours this year, I’m already signed up to 5 and it’s only 18th January! I failed to achieve any of my resolutions last year so carefully considered what I should aim for this year. I am determined to make inroads into my TBR list and to try to stop adding to it…

I’m looking forward to hearing how your sales get on now that you’ve taken them out of KDP Select.

And yes! Definitely have an Instagram account to showcase your art.

    Best wishes for 2019

    • Hey Deborah,

I’m happy you like my book. I’ll be reading and reviewing yours soon. I can’t believe the #DecShelves was from so long ago!

It’s okay about not getting to your resolutions last year. I didn’t either. I find that when I announce something online, it’s hard to follow through, putting too much pressure on myself. When I work behind the scenes, I’m way more productive.

Anything’s better than KDP Select at this point. I was getting international pages read and only making cents with over 300 pages. It was time for a change.

Best of luck to you as well!

      Keep smiling,
