Weekend Writing Warriors Excerpt #28

Saying a prayer for my granddad. Today I found out he had a fever of 106 degrees and that he experienced a heart attack. He has to spend overnight at Winchester’s medical center. I hope he gets the peace and rest that he needs.

On a lighter note, the Weekend Writing Warriors is an awesome site that allows writers to share 8-sentence excerpts, published and unpublished, to the blogosphere. If you’d like to join or would like to read wonderful talent, please visit the WeWriWa’s website on Sunday: http://www.wewriwa.com

Here’s my excerpt:

“Ladies, think how you’d like your daughter, mom, cousin, aunt, grandma to be treated in a situation where she made a mistake. Would you want outsiders to call her a whore, making things even more difficult for her?” Kenley wrapped her arms around Sequoia’s shoulders.

Sequoia squeezed Kenley’s waist, planting a kiss on her cheek. “I love you, Kenley, thanks for being my best friend.”

“Thanks for being my best friend.”

Both ladies smiled at each other–at that moment, Sequoia knew everything would be okay eventually as she faced the crowd of vultures. “They had a right to run the story how they saw fit, however, they got the facts wrong; it’s their false opinion, which is sad that the public will read the article and possibly side with them; they don’t know the whole story, and according to their article, they don’t wish to know the whole story.”

Keep smiling,

    • Thank you, Charmaine. He’s resting and taking his medicine. He’ll be okay.

Wouldn’t it be cool if real life celebrities fought back instead of just accepting the media’s rumors and gossip?

      Keep smiling,

    • Thank you, Teresa. I hope you have a great New Year’s too! I can’t believe it’s already 2015 in a couple of days. My granddad is resting and taking his medicine. He should be fine.

  1. Sending good thoughts for your grandfather! Enjoyed the excerpt, you’re doing such a terrific job of showing us the pain and hurt that the celebrity deals with when these media sensations happen. They’re human too!

    • Thanks, Veronica. My granddad is resting and taking medicine. He should be fine soon. You’re right, celebrities are human too LOL! I figured I should give Sequoia some redeeming qualities b/c I’m assuming readers will hate her since she’s a cheat.

      Keep smiling,
